Today learn about Renaissance , Mannerism & Baroque.
In Renaissance we know about the paint Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. The way he use for shading area is call "sfumato". The painting is base on individualism, anatomy, realism, symmetry ( the proportion), nature ,depth... Beside that, The Last Supper also one of the famous painting of ranaissance. It is the use of the 1 point perfective. Leonardo is not only a artist but mathematical. Famous artist at renaissance was Donatello(1386-1466), Sandro Botticelli , Leonardo da Vinci & Michaelangelo Buonarroti.
In Mannerism (1520-1580) the characteristics are masterful(Technic). The paint The allegory of time and lust by Bronzino is one of the famous painting. It's not anatomically correct.
In Baroque, they strongly use the light at painting. The painting Chris with The Doubbing Thomas by Garavaggio. He strong use of light on object and have a dark background, it's call "chiaroscuro". Most of the bacrkgound are darker.
In conclusion, Baroque is more relitive than Mannerism. Baroque look very expensive and more opposition. Mannerism look more lie in stage.

Week 2

19 January 2015

Today learn about the history of Egypt .Symbolism played an important role in establishing a sense of order. Symbolism, ranging from the pharaoh's regalia (symbolizing his power to maintain order) to the individual symbols of Egyptian gods and goddesses, is omnipresent in Egyptian art. All this we can see at the pyramids wall. Ancient Egyptian art forms are characterized by regularity and detailed depiction of gods, human beings, heroic battles, and nature, and a high proportion of surviving works were intended to provide solace and utility to the deceased in the afterlife. Artists endeavored to preserve everything from the present as clearly and permanently as possible. Ancient Egyptian art was created using media ranging from papyrus drawings to pictographs (hieroglyphics) and include funerary sculpture carved in relief and in the round from sandstone, quartz diorite and granite. Ancient Egyptian art displays an extraordinarily vivid representation of the Ancient Egyptian's socioeconomic status and belief systems. Egyptian art in all forms obeyed one law: the mode of representing Pharaohs, gods, man, nature and the environment remained consistent for thousands of years.

Week 1

12 Jan 2015
This is the first day of school after a long sem break. It is also the first day of History of Art & Design. I hate history >.< In today lesson I understand will in the different between Art & Design.
Art is more to the out look and the creativity of the things. Design is more to the use of the things and to solve the problems.
On the left is a art, on the right is a design.
We will more prefer on the right side chair because it is more comfortable.
Beside that, we are given Instagram assingment -o- I don't like Instagram. I don't even know any of the famous artist. So I choose Jackson Pollock just because his art work attracted me.

The Deep, 1953 by Jackson Pollock

I learned about Jackson Pollock.
He was born on 18 January 1912 in Cody, Wyoming. He studied under Thomas Hart Benton before leaving traditional techniques to explore abstraction expressionism via his splatter and action pieces, which involved pouring paint and other media directly onto canvases. He was both renowned and critiqued for his conventions. He died after driving drunk and crashing into a tree in New York 1956, at age 44.
